Three officials of the United Committee Manipur, consultative members L. Jadumani and Kh. Ratan along with Ningthoujam Dimpanjit, Secretary (Organisation), United Committee Manipur, departed from Imphal today for Tripura to participate in the Manipuri Diaspora Meet 2026.
The meet is being jointly organised by the Manipuri Council Tripura, Tripura Manipuri Students’ Youth Coordination Committee and the United Committee Manipur. The event will be held at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala, Tripura.
The Manipuri Diaspora Meet 2026 is expected to witness participation from Manipuris residing across several North Eastern states, including Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. The gathering aims to provide a common platform for members of the Manipuri community living outside Manipur to deliberate on prevailing socio-political conditions and issues affecting the community.
According to organisers, the meet will focus on strengthening unity and coordination among Manipuri diaspora communities while exploring collective approaches to address emerging challenges. Discussions are also expected to touch upon cultural preservation, social cohesion and the role of the diaspora in contributing to peace and stability in Manipur.
It was observed that historical circumstances have resulted in the dispersal of Manipuris across different regions of the North East, making such interactions increasingly important. The organisers noted that sustained engagement among diaspora communities is necessary to safeguard shared identity and respond effectively to contemporary concerns.
