TSA-GHQ alleges intimidation, seeks action against certain leaders

The Thadou Students’ Association–General Headquarters (TSA-GHQ) has strongly condemned what it described as criminal intimidation and attempts to misrepresent the Thadou community, and has demanded immediate action from the State and Central governments.
In a statement issued by its Spokesperson Vicky Thadou, the TSA-GHQ alleged that Lamminlun Singsit, identified as President of Thadou Inpi Sadar Hills, Lungoulen Guite, said to be its General Secretary, and Kamchon Kipgen, described as its Information Secretary, had issued WhatsApp messages on February 17 and 20 summoning George L. Thadou, President of TSA Sadar Hills, to appear before them in Kangpokpi.
The Association claimed that the messages amounted to criminal intimidation and harassment, and termed them a violation of constitutional rights guaranteed under Articles 14, 19 and 21. It stated that such actions were aimed at creating fear and undermining the autonomy and identity of the Thadou community.
The TSA-GHQ further alleged that the individuals concerned were associated with the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Kangpokpi, and accused them of advancing demands for a separate “Kuki-Zo Union Territory.” It claimed that there were attempts to project themselves as representatives of the Thadou community in order to merge the distinct identity of the tribe, which is recognised under the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 as amended in 1956, with broader political agendas.
The Association also alleged that the said individuals had been involved in activities that contributed to unrest and disturbances in Kangpokpi district, including incidents following the ethnic violence that broke out in Manipur in 2023. It asserted that the TSA-GHQ stands for peace, education and constitutional values, and distanced itself from any form of extremism or separatist ideology.
Demanding immediate intervention, the TSA-GHQ called upon the Governments of Manipur and India to register FIRs and initiate legal proceedings in connection with the alleged intimidation and electronic harassment. It also sought a thorough investigation into the activities, affiliations and funding sources of the individuals named, as well as action against organisations allegedly misusing the Thadou nomenclature. Additionally, the Association urged the authorities to provide security to its leaders in view of what it described as escalating threats.
The TSA-GHQ maintained that it would continue to safeguard the identity and rights of the Thadou community and called for strict enforcement of the law to restore peace and uphold constitutional order in the state.
