Tributes Paid to Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba on 89th Birth Anniversary

A fitting tribute was paid to Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba on the occasion of his 89th birth anniversary at the Lamyanba Shanglen Palace Compound today. The commemorative programme was organised by the NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust and was attended by leaders of various civil society organisations, intellectuals, and well-wishers.
The observance began with the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba as a mark of respect. The programme reflected on his lasting contributions to journalism, public life, and the socio-political development of Manipur. On the occasion, the Memorial Trust also released a book highlighting the life, works, and legacy of Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba.
Speaking at the event, Secretary of the NK Sanajaoba Memorial Trust, L. Jadumani, said that Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba was a pioneer of investigative journalism in Manipur and a key figure in the nation-building process of the state. He stated that from 1949 onwards, Tamo NK Sanajaoba wrote fearlessly with the aim of bringing positive change to Manipur and its society.
L. Jadumani said that as an investigative journalist, NK Sanajaoba boldly exposed corruption, nepotism, and malpractices within the government system without fear or favour. His writings, he added, were rooted in a strong commitment to truth, accountability, and the welfare of the people.
The Trust secretary further said that Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba had the courage to fight for a free Manipur and consistently stood against inequality and injustice faced by the people of the state. He added that the ideals upheld by NK Sanajaoba remained highly relevant even today.
Stating that Manipur now requires individuals with the same courage, integrity, and commitment as Lamyanba NK Sanajaoba, L. Jadumani said his life and work should continue to inspire future generations to uphold ethical journalism and stand for justice.
