This year’s ‘Kanglei Mega Sports Festival,’ cancelled – KSA

Imphal, Mar 24:

The Kangleipak Students’ Association (KSA) has declared the cancellation of this year’s ‘Kanglei Mega Sports Festival,’ a recurring event organized annually by the students’ body, due to the current state of affairs in the region.
In a statement, the KSA explained that the annual Kanglei Mega Sports Festival was initially organized to divert the attention of youth away from engaging in water fights, playing with colors, and blocking roads for donations during the Yaoshang Festival. The KSA emphasized that the Mega Sports Festival aimed to deter crimes and antisocial activities typically witnessed during the Yaoshang festivities. However, this year, amidst the ongoing crisis that began on May 3, 2023, and the relentless attacks by the Chin Kuki Narco Terrorists, many lives have been lost, leaving numerous individuals homeless and seeking refuge in relief camps.
Additionally, the KSA urged all educational institutions to remain open during the Yaoshang Festival to compensate for the academic curriculum lost during the crisis period.
