In a decisive move that has stirred the political landscape of Manipur, Maheshwar Thounaojam, former general secretary of the Republican Party of India (RPI) Athawale, declared his candidacy for the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election. This announcement came to light during a gathering at his residence in Keishampat, attended by a sizable crowd of supporters eager to rally behind their chosen leader.
Addressing the press amidst a fervent atmosphere of anticipation, Maheshwar Thounaojam affirmed his commitment to representing the interests of the people of Manipur under the banner of the RPI Athawale. Emphasizing his dedication to public service, he expressed his conviction that his party would not impede his efforts to enact positive change within the region.
In a candid dialogue with reporters, Maheshwar elaborated on his decision to enter the electoral fray. Initially, he had advocated for the support of a consensus candidate emerging from a political faction attuned to the needs of Manipur’s populace. However, with no such candidate materializing, he found himself compelled to step forward as a contender.
