Manipur Film Festival promotes regional cinema

A three-day “Manipur Film Festival on Promotional Activities Council, Government of India,” held from March 22nd to March 24th, 2024, was organized at the Heritage Art and Cultural Centre in Chingamakha Phura Makhong, Singjamei District, Manipur. The festival took place at the Manipur State Film Development Society in Palace Gate, Imphal East District, Manipur.
The formal inaugural function of the festival commenced on March 22nd at 9:30 hrs, with dignitaries and invitees participating in a traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Throughout the event, five Manipuri films were screened, offering free entrance to all members of the general public. The festival aimed to promote and revitalize the Manipuri film industry, focusing on its cultural significance rather than profit-making endeavours.
The organizing committee of the Heritage Art and Cultural Centre recognized the importance of this initiative for the development of Manipuri cinema. Despite the festival’s focus on promotional activities, the event proceeded smoothly without any obstacles or challenges. The committee expressed sincere appreciation to the Film Forum Manipur for their unwavering support, contributing to the overall success of the festival.
