Health & IPR Minister DR. S. Ranjan Singh has said that the profession of nursing is much challenging. Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at the 12th Foundation Day Celebration cum Oath-taking ceremony of the First Semester B.Sc. Nursing Students (2023-24) Batch, of the College of Nursing, Lamphelpat, Imphal.
Health Minister, Shri Ranjan maintained that the profession of nursing is also a noble profession which may also be considered as the heart of the health care service. Nursing Care is the first care and attends a patient from the first breath till the last breath. They are the ones who give comfort to the patients. Nurses should be self-motivated and determined to their profession, the Minister added.
He informed that there are demands for Manipuri nurses all over the country and abroad.By recognising the talents of the nurses of the state, there have been requests from other countries for Manipuri nurses to work in their respective countries. He said that nurses need to be being focused and professional in their fields. Expertise of their learnings and experiences also need to be exhibited, he informed.
The minister also assured that the grievances of the College of Nursing will be addressed according to its priority. Concerned health officials have already been instructed in this regard. There will be review discussions with the concerned officials whenever necessary in order to fulfil the shortcomings of the institute. Shri Ranjan also expressed his concern over the increasing bad habit of using tobacco in the state. Concerned Health authorities have also been advised to take up necessary steps in this regard.
Dr. Kh. Sasheekumar Mangang, Director, Health Services, Manipur and Dr. N. Surbala Devi, Principal, College of Nursing, Lamphelpat graced the occasion as President and Chief Host respectively. Officials and staff of the college, students and guardians and others also attended the occasion.
