Surrendered militants call 65 hours Bandh from September 2

Imphal, Aug 30: Newly form association, All Manipur Surrender Welfare Association (AMSWA) by surrendered members of 6 proscribe groups UNLF, PLA, KYKL, PULF, UPK and KCP KK Nganba group has called 65 hours general strike/bandh in the entire state of Manipur from 5am of September 2 till 6pm of September 5, 2016 against none fulfillment of the MoU signed with the state government in the year 2011.
Speaking to the media persons here at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, Kazi Umar, Secretary of AMSWA said that the surrendered militants signed an MoU with the state government for payment of Rs 4000 every month as salary in 2011, but so far the state government has not cleared the agreed amount.
 Kazi Umar also said that it has been already 3 years that the surrendered people have not received a single penny from the government side. All together each person has to receive a sum of 3.5 lakh as per the MoU.
Kazi Umar further said that despite already passed the CID and IG scanning process, none of the surrendered had not received any compensation from the government.
The 65 hours general strike is being called in protest against the government failure to fulfil their demand.
On the other hand, the surrendered militants also plans an internal meeting to decide the future course of agitation if the government fails to give positive response to the demand of the government.
Today’s press conference was called by Secretary, President, Treasurer and Publicity of the newly formed All Manipur Surrender Welfare Association (AMSWA).
