Streets remain deserted despite relaxation of curfew

The effort by the state government to ease the agitating society into normalcy received a setback with the public staying indoors even as volunteers manned the streets to enforce the state-wide general strike called by the JCILPS today from 5am to 7 pm. The streets wore a deserted look and the public refrained from going outside. Markets, Oil pumps and Offices remained closed even though the state administration relaxed curfew in the twin districts of Imphal from 5 in the morning till 4 pm today. Meanwhile, volunteers and agitators are seen keeping vigil on the streets to enforce the 14 hours general strike called by the JCILPS with roadblocks and burning of effigies of the heads of state at various parts of the city. The agitation for implementing ILPS continues unabated.
