Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today comes up with the idea of rendering 100% literacy to women of the state as it would empowered them as well as many issues could be solved if the women are well educated. The Chief Minister said this while addressing in the Teachers’ Day function organized by State Education Department at the premises of DM College of Commerce today.
The Chief Minister said this as the women always came in the forefront at any of the issue.
“First the school children will come and then women will come in the form of shield while staging any form of agitation”, Okram Ibobi said. He further appealed the people not to misinterpret to what he had been saying as he was only referring to provide better education to all the women of the state.
He said there are limitations to the government too while fulfilling any demands put up by the civil society organization. And if the women folk who use to come forefront to any form of agitation can be talk in understanding manner then situation could have been improved said Okram Ibobi Singh.
Regarding the opposition from the section of community to the passing of the 3 government Bills for implementation of the Inner Line Permit System, the Chief Minister said that if there are any unwanted clauses at which the tribal civil society think that it would affect their livelihood it can be amended or the clause could have been taken out. He appealed all agitating group to come out for dialogue with the government.
“The Bills will not hurt the sentiments of the tribal people”, Ibobi asserted.
He further added that the sudden outbreak of series of violent protest at Churachandpur was very unfortunate. He however said that properties lost in the uprising can be recovered but those lives lost will be lost for the state forever.
Ibobi further said that the 3 government Bills were passed by the demand of the people, after consultation with intellectuals and 20 MLAs of hill areas.
On today’s occasion 8 teachers were conferred state award in recognition to their service. 335 newly recruited graduate teachers were also handed over appointment.
