Public meeting at Churachandpur demands separate administration for tribal people

Situation in Churachandpur town in the aftermath of the passing of the three government Bills to implement Inner Line permit System has calm down to large extend, however report available with Imphal Times said that shops and business establishment continue to remain close even today with staging of sit-in-protest at various places. Report reaching here said that a public meeting was convened today at New Lamka Public Ground to discuss the issues and problems that the tribal people of the state may face due to the passing of the three Bill.
In today’s public meeting, over thousands of people of the district attended the public meeting. Speaking on the occasion Convenor of the JAC formed against the passing of the 3 Bills, H. Mangchinkhup appealed the gathering to immediately demand for a separate political autonomy for the tribal people of Manipur. He said that various rebel groups including the UPF and KNO who are ensuing in suspension of operation with the government are working out to bring about a common platform for the tribal people of the state for demanding a separate administration for the tribal people of the state. 
Other speakers on today’s meeting opined to cut off the hill districts from the valley districts of Manipur if the government of Manipur failed to withdraw the three bills passed on August 31,.2015 within 10 days.
Source added that the KNO had some understanding with the NSCN-IM which had signed peace accord with the government of India regarding the distribution of administrative areas in Hill district of Manipur. Even as the Narendra Modi Government had assured to safeguard the territorial boundary of the state, leadership of the NSCN-IM had been spreading the content of the frame work to establish separate administrative unit for the so called Naga. As the ILPS legislative may give much impact to some of the Kuki village it is necessary that an understanding has been brought between the NSCN-IM and those based in Churachandpur, said a source.
