Chief Minister. N Biren Singh attended the inauguration program of Good Governance Week at Cabinet Hall CM Secretariat, Imphal today. The nationwide campaign “Prashasan Goan Ki Ore” under Good Governance Week will be held from December 19 to 24, 2024. The program was organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms Division, Government of Manipur.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the Good Governance Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on December 25, for his statesmanship and visionary leadership.
The Chief Minister recalled that on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Manipur in March 2017, the idea to make Manipur an inclusive State with equal developments in both hills and valley came to his mind at the first instance. As such, the government introduced Go to Hills mission to bridge the developmental gaps across the State. After knowing the ground reports of the far flung areas through the Go to Hills mission, the Go to Village mission was introduced to take governance at the door steps of the people, he added.
Biren, further stated that good governance is governance for the people and to deliver services to the people with transparency and accountability. People will only have trust in the government, when the services are delivered as promised, he added.
The Chief Minister stated that the situation in the State has been improving, and praised the Deputy Commissioners especially those posted in the hill districts for performing their duties sincerely during this difficult time. He also mentioned that the bureaucrats are the backbone to deliver good governance for the people and appealed to the officers performing duties in the hill districts not to compromise in key issues and work in larger interest of the nation. The government should entertain the grievances of the public and work hard to redress the same to gain confidence and trust of the public, he added.
Speaking on the various welfare schemes initiated by the government for the people, the Chief Minister also elaborated on details of schemes like the Chief Minister Gi Hakshelgi Tengbang, Chief Minister Health for All, Widows Pension Scheme, CM Da Haisi etc.
As a part of the program laptops were distributed to newly appointed Civil Service Officers. A presentation on Good Governance Week was made by Joint Secretary, Administrative Reforms Division A. Shivadas Sharma.
The function was attended by the Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Chief Secretary of Manipur, Administrative Secretaries and other officials of the State government among others.
