Some people spare no pains in extending help to the needy; Manipuri Cyclist Philem Rohan work needs appreciations from all quarters

Imphal, Sept 30:

Manipuri Cyclist Philem Rohan has covered more than 1500kms around Manipur to distribute items and help financially in this Global Pandemic.

Philem Rohan Singh was on a ride covering 10,000 kms from “NEW DELHI to TOKYO” for the Rights of Person with Disabilities. On 19th March official announcement was made for pausing of ride due to the rising global pandemic. He was on quarantine for 14days at his home “Moirang Philem Leikai .

 Inspite of all the chaos facing due to the nation’s lockdown Rohan wants to help and contribute as much as he can for humanity. From the money he earned from selling his T-shirt ‘cycling for humanity’ he distributed household materials to 62 houses in his locality. He also contributes in the Local MLA Covid 19 helping funds.

He took volunteered in distributing items collaborating with EX MLA of Moirang Constituency MR. PRITHIVIRAJ in various programmed.

To mention from last 7 months Cyclist Rohan has been taking care of a homeless (DUNG DUNG) financially. Dung Dung is under the care in a home at LAMPHEL and Rohan has been taking care of him for the past few months.

On 14th May he celebrated his birthday in a different way by visiting multiple places to help the people in needs. As a cyclist he took advantage of his cycle and along with his friends (10 cycles together) they carry rice in their backpack and went to “KEIRAK ‘to help a disable boy.

Recently, in NAMBOL he visited two widows and help them financially also distributed household items for them. He also visited a mentally retarded family in MOIRANG KHUNOU and provided monetary help.

Under MOIRANG constituency he visited a disabled family in OKSHONGBUNG KHUNOU and help them getting CMHT card and other govt. benefits which can be provided to them also helped the family financially.

In the wake of this nationwide lockdown where everyone is concern about food , income and job a Team by Cyclist Rohan Philem , RK. Hemochandra and member of “cycling for humanity “ are working to tackle the crisis and feeding the homeless in Imphal areas from last three months. There are around 90 homeless these includes intellectually disabled,sex workers and drug addicts.These youth are taking initiative and feeding the homless from  there own pocket and funds raised by selling the Tshirt “cycling for humanity “ without any NGO or organization. Team Cycling for humanity purchases the food from Hotel Yaisana the food and cycling for humanity team delivered the food to the homeless. It was really difficult to distribute foods during the community transmission period.

North AOC is known for major drug dealing point in Imphal, due to the complains from the locality , the team have successfully picked up 60 drug users with the help of police department. They were first tested for Covid 19 with the help of health department and after that the drug users were taken to a shelter home “ Back to life “ which was specially set up for them by the team and were observed as an incubation period. After that they were properly transferred to three rehabilitation centers Inung ngal(Ghari),Restorer home(Lamshang),Back to life(Patsoi).The rehab center are well coordinate with the team and the team also supply them relief materials to supporting them whenever they have the chance.

And currently the team is still distributing food for around 40 people’s those are intellectual disabled and homeless.
