Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe 57th General Conference concludes

The three-day 57th General Conference of Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe(Monsang Naga Students’ Union) held under the theme “Thrive Through Challenges,” concluded today with a series of cultural and valedictory programmes.
The cultural session on the concluding day was attended by Losi Dikho, former PHED Minister and MLA of 48-Mao AC, as Chief Guest. Ng Lorho, President of the United Naga Council, and Ch Prescilla Thiumai, President of the Naga Women’s Union Manipur, attended as guests of honour, while Ts Kothar, former Speaker of the Monsang Tribe Union, attended as President.
Cultural performances featured the Monsang Pantha Dance Troupe, folk songs by the Japhou Youth Club, and folk dances presented by the Liwa Sarei Youth Club. Leaders of various CSOs were also present, with Ng Gilbert, Advisor of the Monsang Tribe Union, serving as chief host.
The valedictory session in the evening was attended by S S Olish, MLA of 41-Chandel AC, as Chief Guest, Hemant Kumar, IAS, DC of Chandel, as Guest Of Honour, and Th Tiningpham, Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women, as president. Former President of Sirti Sanuw Ruh(SSR) W Chancila, was the chief host.
This was followed by an interaction programme on “Empowerment Through Education and Legal Literacy,” hosted by Dr W Somie Monsang, Chief of Ethar Erur. The Miss Monsang Contest 2026 was scheduled to be held later in the evening.
The conference commenced earlier with the hoisting of the union flag by Ng Vincent, former President of Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe. Over the three days, the programme featured songs, dances, debate competitions, cultural games and sports, along with the Sirti Solo Competition and Sirti’s Got Talent. The conference monument was also unveiled by T N Mannen, Advisor for Law and Justice and Land Revenue, Nagaland.
Speaking on the occasion, Kiirii Gedion, President of the Monsang Naga Students’ Union, stated that the general conference was organised with a focus on youth and students, highlighting activities undertaken in line with the conference theme. He said the inclusion of cultural programmes, indigenous games and interaction sessions on education was intended to promote awareness of culture and identity among young people and students.
