Seminar on Hemophilia care held at JNIMS

A one-day seminar on Hemophilia Care was organised at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, today in observance of World Hemophilia Day 2026. The programme was jointly organised by the State Blood Cell, National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur, and the Hemophilia Society, Imphal Chapter.

The inaugural session was attended by Medical Superintendent of JNIMS Dr. Kh. Lokeshwar Singh, President of the Hemophilia Society, Imphal Chapter, Dr. A. Meina Singh, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Dr. Waikhom Birahari Singh, State Nodal Officer, NHM Manipur, Dr. L. Dayalaxmi, Clinical Hematologist of JNIMS Dr. Irom Anil Singh, Senior Medical Officer of the Blood Centre Dr. K. Surjit and In-charge of the Blood Centre Dr. O. Geetchandra.

The seminar aimed to raise awareness about hemophilia and other bleeding disorders while promoting early diagnosis, timely treatment and improved patient care. Speakers highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare support systems and enhancing public awareness to ensure better management of bleeding disorders.

Organisers stated that the programme would help bridge the gap between diagnosis and comprehensive hemophilia care by bringing together healthcare professionals, patients and stakeholders to discuss challenges and best practices in treatment and support services.
