Imphal, Aug 24:
A one-day self-infusion training camp was successfully organized today at the Medicine Ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS). The event, which took place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, was a collaborative effort by Intas Foundation, the Department of Medicine at JNIMS, and the Haemophilia Society Imphal Chapter.
The training camp was aimed at empowering haemophilia patients with the skills required to perform self-infusion, a crucial technique for managing their condition. Haemophilia, a genetic disorder that impairs the body’s ability to make blood clots, requires regular infusion of clotting factor to prevent or control bleeding episodes. Learning self-infusion can greatly improve the quality of life for patients by allowing them to manage their treatment independently.
The event saw active participation from patients and their families, who were given hands-on training by experienced medical professionals. The session covered the importance of proper hygiene, the correct method of infusion, and the management of potential complications.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn these vital skills, which they believe will greatly enhance their ability to manage their condition independently. The success of this event has set a positive precedent for future collaborations aimed at improving the lives of those living with haemophilia in the region.
