Imphal, Sept 2:
All Manipur United Club Organisation’s (AMUCO) President Ph. Nando Luwang has expressed his deep dissatisfaction against India government’s dealing of the ongoing ethnic conflict. He urged the community to raise their voices against these developments, emphasizing that the Government of India has a duty to protect the lives and property of its citizens.
Nando Luwang criticized the ongoing security operations, pointing out that while combing operations are being conducted extensively in the valley, similar actions are not taking place in the hill areas. He accused the government of failing to effectively curb the aggression by Kuki-Zo militants, who, according to him, are openly attacking and waging war against the Meitei community. He further alleged that these attacks are indirectly facilitated by central security forces, noting that militants have launched attacks from areas close to where these forces are stationed, with the security personnel remaining passive observers.
He also referenced the recent revocation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement by the state government, suggesting that this should have empowered the authorities to take stronger action against the militants. He highlighted a recent drone attack, criticizing the central forces for their inaction, and claimed that if the Meitei community had been involved in such an incident, the response would have been swift and decisive.
Nanda Luwang called into question the effectiveness of the state’s Security Advisor, who has been in the position for over a year. He argued that the advisor’s inability to control the ongoing violence disqualifies him from continuing in his role.
