The Second Chance Camp for Adolescents conducted by the Mayai Lambi Integrated Development Organisation, Shamurou at Hiyangthang from the May 5 concluded today with a formal function graced by Ng. Motilal, District Youth Affairs & Sports Officer, Imphal West , Smt. H. Kombirei Devi Councillor, Shamurou Nagar Panchayat and N. Tomba Singh, Executive Editor, Pandam, Evening Newspaper as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively. The Four months residential Camp Sponsored by Dept. of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India was participated by 50 adolescents between 13 to 19 years of age from three districts-Imphal West, Bishnupur & Thoubal District.Shri Motilal in his address as Chief Guest emphasised the importance of the camp provided by the Ministry for stream lining the school dropped-out youths and adolescent by giving another second chance of correction of their life style and behaviours. He expressed his views for inclusion of Vocational Training as the need of the hour during the long course of the camp in future. Kombirei Devi in her Presidential speech showed thankfulness to the organiser for bringing such remarkable programme of youth empowerment in the backward rural area of Mayai Lambi and extended her co-operation in all such programme in future. N. Tomba Singh who attended the function as Guest of Honour stressed on the objective of the programme saying that it is more important in culturing moral education than school education. Self acknowledgement with understanding of social and civic sense is more important in personality and social development.Distribution of participation certificates to the teachers and participants by the Chief Guest and presentation of Gifts by the campers to the regular teachers during the whole course of the camp were the main events of the closing function.Different extra-curricular programmes and lectures were organised other than the regular school curricular classes given by the 5 regular teachers by renown Guest lectures from different institutions on different topics of Health, HIV/AIDs and drug addictions, Yoga & Naturopathy, Mental Health & Youths Rights to education, Career guidance, Personality development for social development, self employment civil defence, Global warming etc.
