SDPO hits police officer on duty

Imphal, May 29: An unusual incident today stunned a group of protestors after a police officer – serving as SDPO at Mayang Imphal Police station identified as Rameshwar allegedly assaulted a Police Sub-inspector of Wangoi Police Station identified as Priyokumar, while the later was trying to console a group of protestors demanding released of the student volunteers of the Kangleipak Students Association (KSA) at Oinam Sawombung Noarem under Wangoi police station today morning.
According to report, a team of police led by Sub Inspector Priyokumar consoled a group of protestors at the area to let the commuters passed as they were blocking the road. The protestors in reply stated that they are not blocking the students and those on essential service. When the police and the agitators were undergoing the in heated argument the SDPO came to the spot and allegedly hit him with a baton without saying any words.
Angered over the attitude of the SDPO locals of the area turn their anger towards him. As the situation worsen the SDPO left the spot leaving the Sub-Inspector.
