The Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Trust (ICMT) will organise the 2026 Irengbam Chaoren Memorial Essay Writing Competition on October 18 at Imphal College, Kwakeithel, Imphal.
The competition will be held on the theme “Importance of Nationalism in Contemporary Manipur” (“Houjikki Manipurda Nationalism gi Maruoiba”) in two categories. Category A is open to students from Class VII to Class X, while Category B is for students from Class XI to graduation.
The word limit is 1,500 words for Category A and 2,500–3,000 words for Category B. Participants may write in English, Meitei Mayek or Roman Script.
According to the ICMT, no registration or form fee will be charged to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Winners in both categories will receive Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 for the first, second and third positions respectively, along with certificates. Seven consolation prizes of Rs. 3,000 each will also be awarded.
Application forms will be available at the Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) Head Office, Kwakeithel.
