The prize distribution ceremony of the 2nd Inter-Sagolband Spot Painting and Drawing Competition was held today along with 14th Foundation Day of Anouba Maiyol Khongchat (AMAKHAK) at the Lainingthou Amudon Community Hall. The event was attended by RK Imo Singh, MLA of Sagolband Assembly Constituency as Chief Guest. RK Jiten, Corporator of Ward no. 7, Chongtham Tombi Singh, Former Member No. 1 and RK Kam Singh, President of AMAKHAK also attended the said event.
In his address, MLA RK Imo Singh highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities for the comprehensive development of students, stressing the need for active participation from early school days. He also recalled the importance of the Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) subject, which was once a staple in school curriculums but is now often overlooked. He urged students to engage in extra-curricular activities for their overall growth.
Focusing on the welfare of the constituency, MLA RK Imo Singh urged the residents living along the banks of the Nambul River to take responsibility for keeping the riverbanks neat and clean. He further addressed the drainage issues from Wahengbam Leikai to Tera and Wahengbam Leikai to Keishampat, assuring the construction of new, covered drains to prevent waste disposal into the open drainage system.
The MLA also provided an update on the water supply issues, mentioning that the situation in Wahengbam Leikai, Kangabam Leikai, Salam Leikai, and Menio Leirak has improved. He assured that with the commissioning of the water reservoir at Tera and the implementation of AMRUT 2, these water-related problems will be resolved. Also, RK Imo announced that all major roads in Sagolband would soon be repaired and renovated with rigid pavements, ensuring durable cemented roads and for areas where rigid pavements are not possible, normal black-topping and paver blocks will be done to ensure all localities have improved road conditions.
