RPI (Athawale) plans nationwide protests over Manipur violence

New Delhi, Nov 28:

The Republican Party of India (Athawale) has resolved to organize mass protests across the country in response to the ongoing violence in Manipur. This decision was made during the All India Leaders’ Meeting, convened by the Party’s National General Secretary, Maheshwar Thounaojam, at New Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi. The primary agenda of the meeting was to address the escalating crisis in Manipur and emphasize its significance as a national issue.
The meeting was attended by leaders and state presidents of the party from across India, including representatives from Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim, Daman and Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Kerala, and Bihar.
In his address, Maheshwar Thounaojam underscored that the Manipur crisis, which has persisted for two years, is not merely a state issue. He highlighted that the unrest stems from Kuki groups, who have migrated from neighboring countries and are now present across Nagaland, Assam, and Mizoram. The issue, he argued, has far-reaching implications beyond Manipur, making it a critical national concern.
Thounaojam further elaborated on the tactics employed by Kuki militants, including the use of drones to drop bombs and missiles for targeted attacks. He warned that such advanced warfare, potentially backed by external forces, poses a significant threat to the security of other Indian states as well. Evidence uncovered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) points to the extensive resources and support available to these groups, raising urgent questions about their origins and objectives.
The lack of a decisive response from national authorities has raised concerns, particularly as the unrest risks destabilizing the broader Northeast region. Thounaojam called for immediate action to neutralize the threat posed by Kuki militants and restore peace and stability.
National leader Rajeev Menon, addressing the gathering, urged party leaders and members to raise awareness about the situation in Manipur across the country. He proposed nationwide protests to expose the atrocities committed by Kuki militants and to pressure authorities to take swift and effective action.
The Republican Party of India (Athawale) aims to use these protests to draw national attention to the crisis, asserting that the Manipur issue is not just a regional problem but a pressing challenge for the entire nation.
