Tamenglong, Nov 2:
A team of Rongmei Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) inspected a severely damaged bridge on the outskirts of Tamenglong district, calling on the state government to urgently prioritize its repair. The bridge, located between Nrianglong and L. Pabram Village and serving as a vital link between Tamenglong and Nagaland, has been in disrepair for over a year, posing significant safety risks to local residents.
The delegation, led by KC Savio, President of the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), along with Richard Kamei, President of the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM), and Daichui Gangmei, President of the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM), expressed deep concern about the bridge’s deteriorating state.
In an appeal to the government, the CSO leaders urged that the bridge be designated as a priority project with adequate funding allocated for its repair to ensure timely completion. “Immediate action is essential to avert any potential accidents,” emphasized KC Savio.
Local residents echoed these concerns, describing the difficulties they face in their daily commutes, business activities, and the growing risk of accidents. “The bridge is deteriorating day by day,” said Lunglinbou, a resident of the area. “Our safety is at stake, and we urge the government to step in.”
The Rongmei CSOs’ visit highlights the pressing need for coordinated efforts among citizens, civil society, and government authorities.
