The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has suspended the registrations of over 300 real estate projects for failure of the developers to place quarterly updates of the projects online on its website.
The MahaRERA is also in the process of directing banks holding accounts of these projects to freeze them. The developers can apply for restoration of the project registration number after complying with provisions of the Act and paying a penalty of Rs 50,000/- an official statement read.
Sub-registrars have been directed not to register sale agreements and sale deeds of flats in the suspended projects, the MahaRERA said adding that the action against erring developers has been taken under section of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016.
746 projects were registered in January. The developers had time until April 20 to upload details of their projects such as the number of flats, the funds received and the funds utilised etc on the MahaRERA’ website.
The notices were issued to developers giving them 15 days to reply. For those that still did not respond, a final notice was issued giving them 45 days to state why their projects should not be suspended.
The suspended projects include: Mumbai city 03, Mumbai suburbs 17, Thane 54, Palghar 31,Raigad 22=127. Western Maharashtra: Pune 89, Satara 13, Kolhapur 07, Solapur 05, Ahmednagar 03, Sangli 03=120. North Maharashtra: Nashik-53, Jalgaon 03 and Dhule 01=57. Konkan :Sindhudurg-06, Ratnagiri 05=11. Vidarbha Nagpur-41, Wardha-06, Amravati-04, Washim and Chandrapur 02, Akola and Yavatmal 01 each=57. Marathwada: Sambhajinagar-12. Latur-02, Nanded and Beed-one each =16.
