Registers and election related files snatch from Manipur College; student injured in scuffle

College election which is scheduled to be held on November 2 at Government Colleges of the state is turning to a battle field for some groups of students. When electioneering process are on the way at Manipur College, some of the students identified themselves to be members of student election monitoring group had yesterday snatch all the related documents, files and Register from the clerk of Manipur college yesterday. An FIR has been launched regarding the matter at Singjamei Police station by the College authority.
Reports said that scuffled occurred during two group of students and at least one student was reported injured and has been hospitalized at RIMS hospital.
Following the news about the election related document being snatch by some students claiming to be members of the election monitoring group, large number of students today came to the college and informed the matter to another student group called Joint Students’ Co-ordinating Committee (JSCC). The committee member while speaking to media persons at Manipur College premises said that the so called members of the monitoring group had told the college clerks to come at the office of students’ body DESAM or at other office of the monitoring group. This has led to suspicion that the files, document and Register were snatched by volunteers of the student group.
The JSCC also said that earlier a candidate was threatened to withdraw candidature recently.
