Thoubal, 2 April: Second phase of Intensified Pulse Polio immunization was kickstarted by District Commissioner Thoubal Shyam Lal Poonia today for Kakching and Thoubal district at Lilong Primary Health Centre, Lilong Bazar. The Immunisation programme initiated by District Health Society, Thoubal witnesses a huge turnout of kids from different Anganwadi centre located in and around Lilong area. Speaking on the occasion, DC Thoubal Shyam Lal Poonia said it aim to immunize 62,000 children within the age range of 5years from the twin district. The programme which is to be organized for 3 days is aided by opening 475 booth, appointing 95 supervisor for each area and 12 District level 12 Supervisor, Poonia said. For security personnel, Polio booth are being opened at Assam Rifle camp at Pallel and Thoubal . Those who miss today’s immunization programme can avail the immunization for two more days and also door to door immunization activities will be done, he added. He further appeals the general public to help and support in eradicating Polio from Manipur. Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal Dr. N Jayentakumar, District Family Welfare Officer Thoubal Dr. N. Akendra, District Health Society Thoubal DPM Ch. Basanta and Member of PHC Lilong Hospital Management Society Md. Abdul Helim were also present in today’s immunization programme.
