Demonstrators in Manipur have accused the state government of incompetence in handling the ongoing crisis and demanded immediate action against Kuki militants responsible for recent killings. Several organizations, including the Thawai Mirel Women’s Wing, have issued strong statements urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene in the situation.
Thawai Mirel condemned the atrocities committed by Kuki militants, expressing concern over the central government’s continued silence and inaction despite intelligence warnings and the escalating violence. In their statement, the group emphasized the need for decisive action to end the bloodshed and hold the perpetrators accountable.
The Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) also raised alarms about the recent abduction and killings. During a press conference, the group criticized both the central and state governments for their failure to protect civilians and restore order. They demanded that the authorities take immediate steps to ensure the safety of the people and control the violence that has gripped the state.
The All Manipur Women’s Voluntary Association also joined the calls for action, urging the government to step in and restore peace. The organization stressed the urgency of protecting civilians and bringing an end to the violence, which has caused immense suffering across the state.
