‘Protection of Sharmila is government’s duty’

Home Minister Gaikhangam who is also the Deputy Chief Minister of the state today said that to protect Sharmila’s live at any cost is the duty of the government.Gaikhangam said this while delivering his speech on the concluding day of the two days sensitization program on Human Rights organised by Centre for Human Rights at Manipur University today.He also said that as Sharmila’s health is deteriorating day by day, government needs to take care of her health. However, since she denied when a medical team tried to check up her health, government decided to do it after detaining her.Talking about the issue of Inner Line Permit System, Gaikhangam said that the government feels what the people of the state feel about ILPS. However, it is not good to give different opinions by different political organizations in this issue after a meeting of all political party collectively decided to look into the matter.
