Ibombcha’s family clarifies over the death of Ranjita

Family members of Laishram Ibomcha who is presently in police custody in connection with the death of Lourembam Ranjita of Yairipok Khoirom today clarified that Ibomcha has no involvement in the incident.Naoba, eldest son of Ibomcha, today in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club said that all the allegations against his father are baseless as his father left home to go Phanjangkhong and returned at his brick field at around 7.30 pm in a diesel auto. After he returned to his brick farm, Ranjita’s husband came to the brick field and asked him to give company in searching Ranjita who went for work in the field. However, he returned to his brick farm as they did not find Ranjita. Ranjita’s dead body was discovered by the locals of Yairipok after he went to sleep at the brick field.He further said that his father was picked up by police on the next day for verification. Later, he was charged of involvement in killing of Ranjita. Some people also alleged that they saw Ibomcha while washing clothes filled with blood at Phanjangkhong. Naoba appealed to the locals of Yairipok to find out the miscreants who spread rumors to make his father guilty. He also sought the support of locals of Yairipok in finding the truth behind the incident.He also asked that why did not Loken (husband of Ranjita), who worked at his neighbor’s house, search his wife till late hours in the evening. He also reminds that police recovered Loken’s slipper from the site where Ranjita’s dead body was found.
