House wife escapes in-laws’ brutality

In yet another case of domestic violence a house wife today escaped from the claws of her in-laws, who reportedly assaulted her mercilessly and narrated the brutalities committed to her.Salam Ningol Naobi Devi (24), wife of Thiyam Rajesh @ Nanao (28) of Angtha Mamang Leikai alleged that she was beaten blues and black by her father-in-law Thiyam Gopen and her mother-in-law Thiyam Ongbi Chammu Devi using iron rod for complaining the illicit relationship of her husband with another woman.Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, the victim, Salam Ningol Naobi said that her husband is a VDF and posted at Khurai Top post. As her husband had stopped bringing his salary she enquired about it and later found her husband to have been spending his salary to a girl which he had illicit relationship. Naobi said that the matter was brought to the notice of her father-in-law Thiyam Gopen Singh at around 2 pm but instead of listening to her her father-in-law started assaulting her with a rod saying that man can have 10 wives. Naobi said that her mother-in-law had also joined her father-in-law instead of stopping him and threaten him to even burn alive.She said the matter was told to her husband but he too sided with his parents and asked her to leave.Naobi reportedly escaped from her in-laws house today morning at around 8 am after calling her father Salam Lakshman of Karang Salam Mayai Leikai.
