Imphal, March 26:
The Federation of Haomee has strongly criticized the imposition of President’s Rule in Manipur, stating that it has failed to restore law and order in the state. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the organization accused the government of neglecting key security concerns and allowing unrest to persist despite assurances from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Federation of Haomee pointed to the February 13, 2025, implementation of President’s Rule, arguing that it has not improved the security situation in the state. It further alleged that the March 8, 2025, declaration by Home Minister Amit Shah, which aimed to ensure free movement along national highways, has proven ineffective. The statement claimed that illegal activities continue unchecked, and the failure to maintain security has aggravated public distress.
The organization also raised concerns about alleged government protection of illegal migrants, particularly mentioning the President of ZRA, Myanmar’s former Member of Parliament Thanglianpao, and KNO President PS Haokip. It accused the Indian government of failing to take necessary action against them despite their alleged involvement in unlawful activities.
Highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation, the Federation of Haomee claimed that issues such as poppy cultivation, drug trade, deforestation, illegal encroachments, and threats to Manipur’s territorial integrity have worsened under President’s Rule. It also criticized the delay in implementing delimitation measures, alleging that certain groups are being favored to the detriment of the indigenous population.
The statement further questioned whether true peace had been achieved when certain factions continued to expand their influence.
The Federation of Haomee warned that the ongoing mismanagement and neglect of crucial policy decisions could lead to further instability in the region.
Additionally, the organization called for the removal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from six districts in Manipur, urging the public to remain vigilant. It emphasized that if the Indian government fails to take corrective measures, it would validate suspicions that Manipur is being destabilized under a broader political agenda.
Concluding the statement, Federation of Haomee President Sapamcha Jadumani urged immediate intervention to address the prevailing issues, warning that continued inaction could have severe consequences for the state’s security and governance.
