Imphal, March 26:
The Red Army (RA) of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) commemorated the 45th Red Army Uprising Day today, marking the event that began on March 26, 1980. This observance included participation from various groups, including local organizations, ethnic communities, and the general public.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Interim Council, PREPAK, issued an official statement, which was disseminated through print and electronic media. The statement was directed toward the public and media personnel.
The 45th Red Army Uprising Day was observed at various locations, including: Central Headquarters (CHQ), General Headquarters (GHQ), 707 Mobile Battalion, Tactical Headquarters (THQ), Base Areas, Transit Camps and Training Centres.
At the Central Headquarters (CHQ), a significant event took place where the Chairman of the Interim Council, PREPAK, along with the Charge-de-Affairs, Publicity & Propaganda, and the Assistant Charge-de-Affairs, Publicity & Propaganda, addressed the gathering.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Interim Council criticized India’s “divide and rule” policies and alleged that these policies were responsible for the disunity and conflict within the region. He emphasised that India’s strategy aimed to suppress the revolutionary movement in Manipur. He called for the unity of the people and urged revolutionary groups in Manipur to coordinate efforts against the Assam Rifles and other occupational forces that are working with mercenaries.
He further stressed that the youth of Manipur must dedicate themselves to the liberation movement and fight against the Indian state’s oppressive mechanisms. He reaffirmed that the sacrifices made in the struggle for self-determination must not go in vain.
At the General Headquarters (GHQ) event, the Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Red Army, alongside officials from the Medical & Family Welfare Department and the Finance Department, took part in the ceremony. They paid tribute to revolutionary martyrs by firing a Revolutionary Gun Salute.
The CAS emphasised that the increasing militarization of Manipur under India’s rule is a strategic attempt to erase Manipur’s identity. He accused India of implementing a proxy war strategy and deliberately fueling conflicts among different ethnic groups to weaken the movement for self-determination. He called on the people of Manipur to resist such tactics and actively support the revolutionary struggle.
In the United Base Area, the 707 Mobile Battalion observed the event in coordination with the NSCN/GPRN, whose Chairman, Sir Yung Aung, participated in the commemoration. The Base Area Secretary and the Camp Commander also addressed the gathering, reiterating that India’s proxy war tactics were an effort to permanently occupy Manipur.
The event concluded with a pledge to continue the revolutionary movement, remembering the sacrifices made by Red Army cadres, fallen revolutionaries, and civilians affected by Indian military operations. The Red Army reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the armed struggle until Manipur attains full sovereignty, stated in the release signed by Mangal Khuman, publicity officer, Department of Publicity & Propaganda, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
