“Plastic surgery helps burn victims regain self-esteem,” said Dr. Khundongbam Palin, CMD of Shija Hospital Langol, during the World Plastic Surgery Day function at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal. The event was held today at the RIMS Banting Hall.
Dr. Palin highlighted the tremendous progress in the field of plastic surgery over the last three decades. He emphasized that plastic surgery benefits individuals of all ages and genders and can be lifesaving for burn victims. “The procedure is not only for cosmetics and rich people. There is a need to make more people realize such benefits of plastic surgery,” he stated.
The function, organized under the theme “Surgical Advancement in Plastic Surgery: The Latest Innovations and Recent Trends,” featured notable attendees, including RIMS Hospital MS Dr. Nepram Sanjib Singh, RIMS Imphal Dean Academic Dr. Brogen Singh Akoijam, and President of Rotary Club Imphal Saratchandra Singh Phijam. RIMS Director N. Sanjib Singh also spoke, stressing the critical role played by the RIMS Imphal Plastic Surgery Department in serving the local community and the broader North East region. He announced that patients with post-burn deformities present at the event would receive all necessary assistance for their treatment in the near future.
During the program, aids were distributed to burn beneficiaries under the theme “Restore Life After Burn,” and an Information Bulletin was released, further promoting awareness and support for burn victims.
