Mumbai, Nov 13:

A cryogenic oxygen generation facility set up at Naval Dockyard in South Mumbai was commissioned by Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command on Friday.
The captive oxygen generation facility is a maiden initiative in the Armed Forces and has been developed to overcome shortages of oxygen, if any, in the fight against COVID 19. The plant will also ensure that there is no dearth of industrial grade oxygen that is crucial for the refit and repair of the Indian Navy’s ships and submarines.
Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, took this initiative to enhance operational readiness of naval platforms, especially during contingencies. The facility has a capacity to generate 100 cubic meter/hour industrial-grade oxygen. It can also supply medical grade oxygen when required, especially in an emergency.
Navy Week2021-Air Display for children
In another development, as part of Navy Week 2021 celebrations, a static and operational air display of different types of helicopters (Chetak, Seaking and ALH) was organised for differently-abled children and school children at INS Shikra in South Mumbai on Thursday and Friday.
The children got an opportunity to learn about different types of naval helicopters as well as their capabilities and roles in providing maritime security.
The large number of children that visited the air station were specifically appreciative of the air operations demonstration conducted on the occasion by naval helicopters. The opportunity was utilised to educate the young minds about operations and roles of the Indian Navy, particularly the yeoman service being rendered by naval aviation in ensuring maritime and coastal security and supporting combat operations at sea.
