The 33rd edition of the Nupi Lal Ningshing Lamjel, a commemorative run honouring the historic Nupi Lal (Women’s War) movement, witnessed the participation of more than 1500 women today. The event commenced at the Nupi Lal Complex in Imphal and concluded at Singjamei, attracting participants from diverse regions of the state.
MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand flagged off the run, which paid homage to the brave women who played pivotal roles in the Nupi Lal movements, fighting for justice and equality in Manipur’s history. Following the run, a ceremony was held at Singjamei to mark the 85th anniversary of the Nupi Lal.
The event, organized by the State Level Nupi Lal Ningshing Lamjel Organizing Committee, celebrated the enduring legacy of the women-led uprisings that significantly influenced Manipur’s socio-political landscape. Participants shared their pride in taking part, emphasizing the importance of commemorating the sacrifices and resilience of the women involved in the Nupi Lal.
Over the years, the Nupi Lal Ningshing Lamjel has evolved into a cherished annual event, representing unity, empowerment, and the indomitable spirit of women in Manipur.
