The ‘Online Global Fest,’ a virtual platform connecting people worldwide through art, culture, and intellectual activities, has introduced a unique cultural competition starting October 31, 2024. The competition celebrates the literary and musical contributions of Indian icons Hijam Irabot, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Participants can recite the Meitei poems of Manipur’s Jana Neta Hijam Irabot and Hindi verses of Harivansh Rai Bachchan or perform songs by Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Assamese, Bengali, or Hindi. Submissions in dance drama format are also encouraged.
Categories for participants include Students, Youth, and Senior Citizens, and entries must be submitted as video clips. Winners will receive cash prizes, surprise gifts, digital participation certificates from the KRC Foundation, and feature on the organizers’ social media. Additionally, participants will receive appreciation letters and feedback from viewers and jury members to inspire artistic growth.
This event is part of the upcoming ‘Barak Festival 2025’, to be held in Silchar from January 10-12, organized by the Knowledge Resource Centre Foundation (KRC Foundation) in collaboration with the Barak-Manipur Friendship Association (BMFA). Vision Art & Cultural Centre, known for over three decades of cultural promotion in Nagaland, will manage the event under KRC Foundation’s oversight.
KRC Foundation’s Managing Trustee, Biswadeep Gupta, invites poetry, song, and dance enthusiasts worldwide to participate, adding that additional awards may be announced on the festival’s concluding day, January 12, 2025. Gupta emphasized that the competition aims to globally showcase India’s literary treasures and inspire younger generations.
Earlier, the platform also launched a contest featuring works by Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, and Sukanta Bhattacharya, emphasizing India’s rich literary heritage.
