Imphal, July 10:

In connection with the allegation leveled against two Congress MLAs and a hard core congress worker by ex-MLA Subashchandra, Congress Legislative Party Wing leader Okram Ibobi Singh today said that let the people decide on who is wrong and who is right.

Ex-MLA Subashchandra along with two other BJP MLAs tendered resignation from both the BJP primary membership as well as from the Manipur Legislative Assembly on June 17, two days ahead of the Rajya Sabha Election and voluntarily came to Congress camp, Ibobi said talking to a group of reporters today morning.

“I feel ashamed of what has been happening in Manipur’s politics”, Ibobi said and added that how people could believe an elected MLA being beaten by three reputed people and force him to resign from being the member of the Legislative Assembly or from their respective party. Ibobi said that those among the three persons that Subashchandra accused of assaulting him were three times elected representative of the people, at which one among them had served at the capacity of Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly. The other, whom Subashchandra alleged of assaulting is a reputed businessmen now a member of the Indian National Congress.

“It’s funny and childish that such an allegation comes from an elected member though resigned”, Ibobi said.

On the other hand Ibobi also expressed shock to an FIR lodged by Subashchandra at Patsoi Police Station at which he stated that he had been forced to resign as the Congress has already communicated with Minister Bishwajit to topple the present government.

Congress party has always been acting as a constructive opposition party. It has no desire of toppling the government, however, with the NPP and the BJP MLAs giving pressure to some Congress MLAs, the party has been compelled to act. But it was not the intention of the Congress party, Ibobi added.
