Imphal, Dec 1:
The Monthly Pension for the month of November has been distributed to the one hundred and forty Differently Abled Persons and some selected elderly persons of Singjamei Assembly Constituency this morning under the exclusive sponsorship of Oinam Romen Singh, Member of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC).
The Pension Distribution Ceremony was held at the residence of Oinam Romen Singh, Singjamei Oinam Thingel, Imphal West District Manipur organised by the New Development Organisation Singjamei (NDOS). Each pensioner received one thousand rupees for the month.
Speaking on the occasion, Oinam Romen Singh said that such initiatives had been taken up for the last one decade or so. Such individuals can do a lot more than a normal person can do. If they are nurtured with full guidance. They should not be underestimated. Their livelihood solely depends upon their family members. Without their care, they do not do anything for themselves. So, they should be fully cared for whatever is needed. He said that he has been doing such things only from his own sources, not taking any help from others. The government should take full responsibility in this regard. He urged the government to provide something for their welfare as they are reeling under helpless conditions, Romen Singh asserted.
Romen Singh further said that he will continue such kinds of initiatives to uplift their livelihood. It is not for taking any political mileage. It is only a philanthropic act. Politics and philanthropy are quite different. He urged other people to help such kind of needy people as they are waiting for their response. The government should take up a special scheme for them so that their livelihood cannot depend on the other. He expressed dissatisfaction with the government for not taking up any special scheme for their welfare.
Sarungbam Chaoba Singh, Huidrom Nabakishore Singh, Sarungbam Nabakumar Singh, President NDOS and among others participated in the function.
