As part of the 37th World AIDS Day observance, Dr. Kh. Lokeshwar, the Medical Superintendent of JNIMS, called for a collective effort to eliminate AIDS by 2030. Speaking at a program held at the Manipur Dramatic Union Hall in Yaiskul Police Lane, he urged the public to remain vigilant and continue awareness campaigns to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in the state.
The event was organized by the Manipur AIDS Control Society, SASO, CoNE, and MNP+, along with various NGOs. During the program, Dr. Lokeshwar shared his concerns about the rising HIV/AIDS cases in Manipur and stressed the importance of raising awareness to prevent further infections. He emphasized that with continued awareness and education, the state could make significant strides in controlling the epidemic.
In a significant move, Dr. Lokeshwar also launched a leaflet on the “Right to Health,” detailing the HIV and AIDS Prevention & Control Act, 2017, highlighting the importance of understanding one’s rights in the fight against the disease.
The program brought together health experts, community leaders, and various organizations, all united in the common goal of creating a future free from AIDS.
