Imphal, Sept 29:
The NSCN/GPRN (YA) has voiced strong concerns over the reported ceasefire negotiations between the NSCN-Angmai group and Myanmar authorities. In a pointed statement released by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN (YA) accused the NSCN-Angmai group of lacking any political legitimacy or agenda, asserting that their actions do not represent the aspirations of the Naga people.
This alleged collaboration between the NSCN-Angmai group and the Myanmar government has drawn suspicion from the NSCN/GPRN, which warned that such a move could jeopardize the stability and unity of the eastern Naga region. According to the statement, any agreement that may emerge from these negotiations would only serve the interests of the parties involved, excluding the broader concerns of the Naga people.
Criticizing what it described as a pattern of divisive politics, the NSCN/GPRN likened Myanmar’s approach to what they referred to as India’s “divisive mentality,” cautioning that any attempt to divide the Naga community would be a significant mistake. They called on Myanmar to refrain from using the NSCN-Angmai group as a political tool, warning that it would only destabilize the region and harm the livelihood of the Naga public.
The statement concluded with a firm message to the Myanmar government: avoid dragging the NSCN/GPRN and the Naga people into Myanmar’s internal conflict. The NSCN/GPRN reiterated its neutrality in the ongoing turmoil, reaffirming its role as the true representative of the Naga people’s political aspirations while warning against the legitimization of an expelled group.
