The NSCN/GPRN (Aleng group) today claimed that its armed wing had killed five cadres of the Kuki National Army–B (KNA-B) in Kamjong district, alleging that the group had entered Manipur with plans to carry out attacks on civilians.
In a circulated on social media, Maj. Gen. Aleng, identified as Supreme Commander of the South East Command, Naga Army under NSCN/GPRN, stated that the operation was carried out on the morning of April 24 as a “decisive response” to an earlier attack on April 18 near T.M. Kasom village in Ukhrul district.
According to the statement, over 20 armed KNA-B cadres were allegedly camping near the international border in Kamjong district with the intention of targeting villages and civilians. The group claimed that five of them were “eliminated” during the operation, while others were believed to have retreated.
The outfit further alleged that the move was in retaliation for the killing of two Naga individuals and repeated incidents of firing targeting villages, including Sinakeithei, Thoyee, Sharkaphung, and nearby areas around Litan. It accused Kuki militant groups of creating fear among civilian travellers and residents in the region.
Declaring that it would not remain “silent in the face of repeated aggression,” the group asserted that it would continue to act to protect what it described as the safety, dignity, and rights of the Naga people. It also called for unity and vigilance among the public amid the escalating situation.
There has been no independent verification of the claims made by the outfit, and no official confirmation from security agencies regarding the reported incident.
