National Youth Day was observed today at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University, Canchipur to commemorate the 161st birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti today. The programme was jointly organized by NSS Cell, Manipur University, Canchipur and Khelo Bharat, Manipur.
An interactive program was held with aimed to promote sustainable development of personality and leadership qualities in youth through sports. It was designed to inspire and encourage young people to develop leadership and personal skills through sports.
The interactive session was attended by Dr. M. Nodiyachand Singh, Associate professor, PESS and Coordinator NSS Cell, Manipur University, and Dr. L. Santosh Singh, Associate Professor, Manipur University, as resource persons. Around one hundred students participated.
During the interaction program, Dr. Nodiyachand Singh highlighted the importance of sports in shaping and nurturing the overall personality of young individuals. He emphasized that the sustainable development of personality in youth through sports is a concept that goes beyond just improving physical fitness. It is about developing postures, good looks, character, values, and skills that will help them succeed in life. Sports offer a unique environment for young people to develop holistically also save from all kinds of elements. They learn to work with others, face challenges, and overcome obstacles. Through sports, young people learn the value of teamwork, discipline, perseverance, leadership, and respect for others. These skills are not only important in sports but also in all aspects of life, such as education, career, and personal relationships.
According to Dr. Nodiyachand Singh, sports provide a safe and supportive space for young people to explore their potential and discover their strengths. It enables them to set goals, work hard, and celebrate their achievements, which boosts their self-esteem and confidence. Therefore, the sustainable development of personality in youth through sports is an essential aspect of promoting the well-being and success of young individuals and society as a whole.
Dr. Nodiyachand Singh emphasized the need to invest in sports programs and ensure access to quality sports education. By doing so, we can help young people grow and thrive while building a better future for all.
During an interaction program, Dr. Santosh Singh also expressed that sports can be powerful tool for fostering sustainable leadership qualities in young people. The sustainable development of leadership qualities in young individuals through sports is a crucial aspect of personal growth and achievement. Sports activities can provide a significant platform for young people to develop essential leadership skills, such as effective vision, teamwork, communication, strategies, decision-making, discipline and problem-solving.
