The 75th Naga Independence Day is joyously celebrated in all the Naga areas today.
According to United Naga Council(UNC), the Day was celebrated at Karong, Senapati along with Naga People’s Organisation(NPO) and Naga Women Union. Solomon Arow, president of NPO gave the independent speech on the occasion.
The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) also celebrated the 75th Naga Independence day at the TNL Assembly Hall, Ukhrul with former TNL president Vakham Zimik as the chief guest. It was attended by all the CSOs in the district. Chandel Naga People’s organization (CNPO) and Rongmei Naga People’s Organisation (RNPO) along with other CSOs also celebrated in Chandel and Tamenglong.
The Naga Student Federation celebrated Independence Day at Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. Its Manipur unit All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) also marked the 75th Naga Independence Day at its headquarter at Senapati. All 19 units of ANSAM’s also celebrated the occasion in their respective offices adhering to COVID SOPs.
The colourful Naga National flag is seen across the Ukhrul town as Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong(TKS) joins in celebrating the Naga Independence day at the premises of its office in Ukhrul headquarter today. On the occasion, the Naga Flag was hoisted by its former president PR Jordan and he delivered a patriotic speech citing the legitimate historicity of the Naga movement and call upon the people to continue the struggle unflinchingly.
Global Naga forum have also joined the celebration through a zoom meeting with Prof. James Haorah of New Jersey Institute of Technology delivering the commemoration speech on the theme ‘Blowing of Traditional Naga Trumpet’. International solidarity messages were also shared by Ralph J Bunche, General Secretary, Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation(UNPO); Binota Moy Dhamai, Expert Member, United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples(EMRIP); Achan Chupinit Kesmanee, Chairperson of AIPP Foundation Board, Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact(AIPP) and Helena Nyberg, Human Rights Expert, UN Liaison, International Committee for the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas(Incomindios).
Naga villages all over the state also commemorated the 75th Naga Independence Day in their respective villages by hoisting the Naga Flag and singing the Naga national anthem. There is a vibrant joyous exchange of greetings and messages in all the social medias to mark the occasion.
