Jiribam celebrates 75th Independence day of Manipur

The Jiribam District hoisted Manipuri National Flag of maroon colour today to marked 75 years of Manipur Independence day at Lairembi Phampak, Kalinagar, Jiribam.
Kalinagar Youth Club, Meitei National Front (MNF), DESAM District Council, Jiribam and Meitei Inat Thougal Lup organised the celebration at their levels remembering the historic event of Manipur.
Talking with media person, President of Meetei National Front (MNF), Jiribam branch Hamom Dhoni Meetei said on August 14, 1947, the British left the region after many years of its domination and an Independence kingdom of Manipur was established until it was merged to the Indian union in 1949.
He also said today the historic event of the then Manipur kingdom getting freedom from the British colonial rule has been celebrated with the objective to let future generations to know the history of Manipur.
Bilaks Meetei, President, DESAM District Council, Jiribam; Mutum Hemanta Mangang, General Secretary, Meitei Inat Thougal Lup; Hamom Dhoni Meetei, President, Meetei National Front along with other members of Kalinagar Youth Club participated in flag hoisting ceremony.
