Imphal, July 6:

Today members of the Nagaland Christian Forum held a joint prayer for peace in Manipur at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal. Speaking to the media on the sidelines, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier of Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) expressed that in this sad and painful time in our history, a few concerned citizens from Nagaland, under the blessings of the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum, have travelled to Imphal, the State capital of Manipur to offer friendship, show commitment to end the escalating violence, and express empathy and solidarity with the people of Manipur.
“We recognise that spiralling conditions are dividing neighbours, friends, and communities from each other in Manipur. Sadly, throughout our shared history, we have witnessed that violence only begets violence, which only leads to more human suffering and pain, and destroys relationships with one another and the world around us. As neighbours, we ask that the people of Manipur give peace a chance and courageously end this continuing cycle of violence. We encourage walking together for the present and future generations by talking with one another and beginning a dialogue process that connects generations and cultures to heal society. We believe in the reconciling work and the profound peace of the divine. With the conviction that undergirds our visit, we offer our sincere prayers and support” said Rev. Dr. Wati Aier.
He further expressed that the members of the visiting team are all of different professions, and most are in the church. At Kohima, every time they prayed at the church for Manipur to bring peace and that they will continue the peace work in Manipur to bring normalcy and harmony. Altogether 30 persons came to Manipur from Nagaland among them Rev. Dr. N. Papino Vice President Nagaland Joint Christian Forum Nagaland, Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao Vice President Fellowship of Naga Baptist Churches Kohima, Nagaland also attended the press meet.
