New Delhi, June 14: With NSCN (K) president S.S. Khaplang who is also chairman of the newly floated United National Liberation Front of West South East Asia (UNLFWSEA) ailing in a Yangon hospital, the tactical command of the combined armed groups is reportedly being directed by ULFA hardliner Paresh Baruah, sources said.
According to intelligence sources, the treatment of Khaplang, suffering from a medical condition complicated by diabetes, has been facilitated by the Myanmar Government who arranged for his travel from Taga base in Naga Hills to Yangon. The Myanmarese government has reportedly pushed back North East militants camped on its side. According to reports, the group has split into batches and entered India at Manipur and Nagaland.
It was reported that NSCN (K) armed chief Niki Sumi and a batch of around 30 armed cadres have entered Nagaland.
To put the heat on the NSCN(K), the Ministry of Home Affairs has moved a cabinet note seeking a ban on NSCN (K) as an outlawed organisation under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
The cabinet committee on security (CCS) will take a call on Home Ministry’s note on Monday and in all likelihood will blacklist it as a banned organisation, sources said.
The move would not only allow government to break the financial backbone of NSCN (K) by attaching its properties in Nagaland but would also put its functionaries in check through invoking Interpol’s red corner notice, sources said.
