IT News
Imphal, April 14:

The Meitei (Meetei) Tribe Union (MTU) has urged the Union Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, who is scheduled to visit Manipur for a brief period on April 15, to take swift action to resolve the ongoing conflict between the Kuki and Meitei communities. The MTU emphasized the urgency of the situation and called for concrete steps to be taken during the minister’s visit.
In a statement issued today, the MTU emphasized that the government possesses comprehensive information regarding the root causes of the crisis. They called upon the Union Home Minister to acknowledge this and extend an apology to the people of the state for his previous statement suggesting that the ongoing crisis stemmed from a Manipur High Court judgment.
Furthermore, the MTU urged the Union Home Minister to make a public announcement regarding the inclusion of qualified Meitei/Meetei individuals in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list. They emphasized the importance of this step in addressing the grievances of the community and promoting inclusivity within the state.
The MTU’s call for action comes amidst escalating tensions between the Kuki and Meitei communities, with concerns raised about the potential for further violence and instability. The Union Home Minister’s visit presents an opportunity to address these issues and work towards a peaceful resolution.
