MSF extends Christmas greetings, calls for unity and justice-based peace

The Manipuri Students’ Federation has extended Christmas greetings to all those who believe in Jesus Christ and follow his teachings on the occasion of Christmas Day, observed on December 25, while appealing for unity, peace and justice amid the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
In a press statement by the Publicity Secretary, MSF said that Manipur, also known as Kangleipak and located in the Western South East Asia region (WESEA), has been facing prolonged political and social challenges. Recalling the period since Manipur’s merger with India in 1949, the federation stated that political conflicts and movements have affected Meetei, Pangal, Naga, Kuki and other communities, weakening the collective idea of Manipur, its identity, history and social harmony.
The MSF stated that misunderstandings and distorted narratives have prevented a deeper understanding of the root causes of the conflict. It stressed that protecting human dignity and upholding justice are collective responsibilities and that hatred, revenge and exclusion only worsen the situation.
Referring to the violence that erupted on May three, two thousand twenty-three, the MSF stated that incidents of killings, displacement and destruction have caused immense suffering to many families, leaving deep trauma, fear and uncertainty among the people. It urged all concerned to prioritise the protection of human lives and to work towards healing and reconciliation.
Citing the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ, the MSF stated that true peace cannot be reduced to the absence of violence but must be based on love, compassion and justice. It added that the present global environment, marked by hatred and division, calls for reflection and collective responsibility.
