Imphal, Feb 12:
MLA RK Imo Singh inaugurated the Sagolband Ingudam Leikai Meira Paibi Shanglen today, expressing gratitude for the continued love and trust of the people, which has led to his third consecutive electoral victory. He acknowledged that his successive wins were historic for the constituency, as no one before him had won two consecutive terms, except his father, the late former Chief Minister of Manipur, RK Jaichandra Singh, who achieved this feat in 1988 and 1990.
During the event, RK Imo Singh reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people without bias. He recalled the “MLA Ana Layenggi Tengbang” scheme, which has been providing financial assistance since 2022. Under this initiative, Rs. 20,000 is provided to patients suffering from cancer, kidney, and heart ailments, Rs. 50,000 to families who lost loved ones in accidents, and Rs. 20,000 to families who lost members due to COVID-19. He emphasized that these benefits were extended to all residents of the constituency, irrespective of political affiliation, reinforcing his role as a representative for everyone.
He also highlighted the support extended during the COVID-19 pandemic, mentioning that Rs.15,000 was provided as personal advance money to nearly 700 beneficiaries to help them begin constructing houses under the PMAY scheme. Many of these houses have now been completed, and the third-phase amount is being transferred to beneficiaries’ accounts, with the remaining phases set for completion soon.
Providing updates on key infrastructure projects, the MLA stated that the commissioning of a water reservoir at Tera, aimed at benefiting the people of Sagolband, would take place soon. Additionally, the Women’s Keithel at Tera Bazaar is expected to begin operations shortly, with the foundation stone scheduled to be laid on February 14. The renovation of Sayang Pukhri, modeled after Bijoy Govinda Thangapat, is also nearing completion. Once finished, it will serve as a tourist attraction with a park and an open gym. He further mentioned that several other development projects across Sagolband would be inaugurated in the coming days.
