Imphal, Nov 13: Loukrakpam Rajeshwori, a 18 year old girl who went missing after saving to lives on the afternoon of November 10 from drowning at Imphal River was found dead today by locals at around 11 of the morning.
The incident occurred on November 10 after around 3:30 pm Loukrakpam (O) Kebisana of Arong Mayai Leikai along with her 3 year old daughter Thoibi and Loukrakpam Rajeshwori (aged 14 years) were crossing Arong Bridge, which connect Imphal West and Thoubal District, when the three-year-old girl slipped through a gap in the bridge which had some missing planks, following which her mother also jumped into the river to save the child.
Both of them were about to drown when Loukrakpam Rajeshwori, jumped in the swift flowing river and managed to push them to the bank, but she was swept away by the strong current. Since then she was missing until today when her lifeless body was recover by the locals.
The lifeless body of Loukrakpam Rajeshwori was found floating few distance far from the bridge near Arong Lairembi.
Following the incident, angry villagers of Arong village on Friday had burned down the wooden suspension bridge after girl Loukrakpam Rajeshwori was reported missing while saving the drowning child and mother.
